This week your community newspaper celebrates the Boy Scouts, well known for their rites of passage from Cub to Scout to Eagle, based on learning and service.
We are also celebrating the upcoming warm and fuzzy holiday of Valentine's Day, which really comes in handy these cold winter days. You know, it's the day when many a marriage proposal comes. And after all the excitement of that special moment comes the planning for the event of a lifetime.
That's where our special section, “Events of A Lifetime” comes in handy, with news of other weddings and rites of passage, expert advice and information about local businesses that can help make any event (from baptisms and brises, to first communions, bar mitzvahs, confirmations, sweet sixteens, weddings and anniversaries) the event of a lifetime.
Speaking from our own experience, we know having friends help you through it all makes everything sweeter.
We need your input
Your community newspaper offers a print edition, a website and facebook page. Our mission continues to be to bring you the local news, to be “the glue that helps hold a community together and the spur that helps keep it moving forward.” The question is how to evolve in today's world to accomplish these goals.
We would like to hear from our readers about what you would like to see in our print edition and on our website and facebook page and how you would like to contribute. We want to be like your refrigerator door, the place where you get information that is useful and entertaining to you, the place where you share what is important to your heart (not food, silly) but pictures, children's artwork and places to be.
You can e-mail us at LMPUB@optimum.net, write to us at 1840 Merrick Avenue, Merrick NY 11566, fax us at 378-0287, or call Publisher Linda Toscano at 378-5320 ext. 19.
We look forward to hearing from you.
